Came across an entertaining parody of YMCA on youtube (launch video) today made by part of the Mecca Bingo crew and aimed at bringing the bingo-playing public’s attention to the unfair tax situation on the game. It appears that the chancellor, make that new Prime Minister (oh dear), has decided in his wisdom that while the rest of the gambling industry gets tax breaks, the bingo bods pay double what anyone else pays! Doesn’t sound that fair to me (or the blue-rinse brigade judging from the video!) but help is at hand.
Website Save Our Bingo has launched a campaign to try and rectify this anomaly in the UK gambling industry but they need some help from you, the bingo punter. The website has a petition which you can get hold of, then it’s off down the bingo to get your pals to sign their names. They need as many as they can get and it has a benefit for the punter in that the prizes, and prices, should see the benefits of less tax. If you don’t fancy downloading the petition, you can simply sign up yourself at your local Mecca bingo hall.
What with the smoking ban ‘n’ all anyone would think the Government wants to close down the bingo industry. Sheesh. Politics! So off you go and clickety-click!
